BROOK was born in 2006 with a simple goal: to offer a warm, thorough and holistic approach to recruitment.

Steered by its entrepreneurial founder and visionary leader, Vanessa Fajnkind, BROOK evolved quickly into a premium agency focused on the highly specialised needs of the interconnected Property, Construction and Finance industries.

Over the years we have developed lasting relationships with both our clients and candidates. We believe in having a thorough understanding of our client’s businesses and the challenges they face to ensure we find them the right person for the role as efficiently as possible.

VANESSA FAJNKIND - Founder & Director


Founder & Director

Vanessa is no stranger to spinning plates, moving at speed and expert negotiation. After an impressive decade working with Australia’s biggest brands and businesses, Vanessa launched BROOK in 2006.

Her stellar reputation for building strong relationships, astute assessments and tireless work ethic have fuelled BROOK’s steady growth, shaping the premium recruitment agency it is today.

Over the last 15 years, working for Julia Ross Recruitment initially before moving onto Ranstad (formerly Link Recruitment), Vanessa worked with some of the Australia’s biggest brands. After developing a significant network of both clients and candidates Vanessa decided to launch her own agency.

Her reputation for being selective, meticulous and hardworking saw BROOK Recruitment grow expeditiously over the last decade into a premium brand that advises C-Suite executives of top-tier firms on their recruitment strategies.

Olivia Fredericks now heads up our Sales, Marketing and Property Division and is working with some of Australia’s most renowned Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane based Property Developers and Construction clients.

Born and raised in New York by the CEO of a Property Investment Business, Olivia dedicated her time in America learning the ropes of her family’s company before deciding to branch out and try something different.

She dabbled in fashion while living in New York at labels such as Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors, where she worked her way up to a Client Relations Manager.

She then discovered her passion for people, and after recruiting and managing her own team, began to appreciate the importance that people play in the success of a business.

Katharine’s time working as a Sales Associate for a large retail brand saw her meeting new and interesting people every day, while quickly having to determine how to best serve and support them in that moment. It’s through this experience that she began to see individuals on a deeper level.
Now, Katharine brings these skills and so much more to our Property, Construction and Finance clients on the fast-paced Admin & Business Support desk.

Jo Sorensen

Adventure has always run in this Swedish girl’s veins and that’s exactly why she loves Recruitment. Jo says finding the right candidate is a thrill. Her affinity for people was evident even back during her time at RMIT University, where a friend suggested she switch her Business Management major from Entrepreneurial Cases to Human Resources. So she did!

And now, after 4 years working in the industry, Jo brings her adventurous spirit and keen eye to our premium Property, Construction and Finance clients on her fast-paced Senior Business Support and Finance desk.

Jo’s innovative mentality and passion for those around her have quickly seen her thinking outside of the box with her approach to building relationships and now she has many highly skilled individuals on her books who are looking for their next perfect career move.

Simone has over five years of Construction experience across a range of sectors including Industrial, Commercial and Residential Projects. She has independently managed both Residential and Commercial developments giving her an intimate understanding of the industry


She’s additionally worked in recruitment in the industrial Labour Hire sector furthering her knowledge. 


Simone soon discovered she had a passion for helping people achieve success within the Construction Industry, so lucky for BROOK she has now combined her two passions!

Simone Hayman has had an impressive career. Working for Gucci Australia for 7 years and in various other marketing and client relationship roles that have seen her work with the likes of Cindy Crawford and host events for the Israeli Philharmonic.

In her capacity as Business Development Manager at Brook Recruitment her focus is to identify new opportunities through having an in-depth understanding of the Property, Construction and Professional services industries, including key issues impacting the industry. Deborah Lisle is a qualified accountant and Registered BAS agent with over 25 years’ finance and accounting experience across a range of industries and different sized businesses.

10 years ago, Deborah was one of the industry pioneers to embrace the class leading cloud accounting software Xero. When Deborah isn’t taking care of business, she loves nothing more than whipping up a deliciously healthy meal and going for a jog, or getting away to her holiday house in Port Fairy with her husband and 3 children.
