Spotlight on Jo Sorensen – Talent Acquisition Specialist Senior Business Support

Jo has been with BROOK for just under a year and specialises in Senior Business Support. 

She has a keen eye across the industry, movements and trends and is in constant contact both with clients and candidates to understand their changing needs. 

She has listed out some of the most important things to know when it comes to EA’s from salary shifts, working expectations and how to secure the perfect EA.

Here are some of her thoughts: 

Tell us about what’s on your desk right now?

I have some fantastic EA’s on my desk at the moment with experience ranging from two years to 20 years. The last few weeks have been really busy and we have been able to fill some amazing roles. Some of the industries I’m currently working with are creative studios, corporate transport, to high end property developers and investment companies

 

What are EAs looking for in their roles this year?

A lot of them are now looking for Work From Home (WFH) options. They do however really understand the need for flexibility with time due to client meetings or a requirement to be somewhere on a particular day.  

A growth mindset – for a strategic EA role for example, where they assist in running the company and do more than just complex dairy/email management, this is really important.

They want to build that genuine work relationship built on trust. Being able to working autonomously, build trust and be trusted that they get the job done with no micro management.

Opportunity for development within the role.

 

What are the current salary expectations?

In general, the market has increased in the last couple of years and we see the average salary range for an EA from $90-$140k + Super. 

However we’re also seeing even higher level EA roles being filled at $120-$140k + Super. 

 

What do you think is trending for 2022?  

From an employee’s perspective, a hybrid role allowing them more flexibility. Also more work life balance with a focus on employee health. 

 

Anything else you think we should know about with your industry at the moment? 

There is a lot more movement, which means a lot more roles EA roles going at the moment. Keep in mind though EAs are particularly picky and would only move for the right fit even if it takes 6 months.
